The College of New Rochelle, or CNR, for short, is a private Catholic college with its main campus located in New Rochelle, which is a city in Westchester County, in the southeastern portion of the US state of New York, with a population of more than 73 000 inhabitants, as estimated during the 2007 census, which makes it the state's 7th largest city.
CNR was established in 1904, being founded by the Order of the Ursulines, and adopted its current name in 1910. It was the first Catholic women's college in New York state, and was opened in a time when women were generally excluded from higher education. It currently offers its students undergraduate and graduate degree programs, that lead to Bachelor of Arts, Fine Arts, Science, and Science in Nursing, and to Master of Arts, Science and Science in Education.
The athletic teams at the College of New Rochelle are nicknamed the Blue Angels and they compete in NCAA Division III. Their distinctive colors are blue and white.
